Ghanaian-born American, Bozoma Saint John, is the new Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) of Netflix.
She becomes the first black woman to join the top executives of Netflix.
“An exceptional marketer who understands how to drive conversations around popular culture better than almost anyone. As we bring more great stories to our members around the world, she’ll define and lead our next exciting phase of creativity and connection with consumers,” Chief Content Officer at Netflix Ted Sarandos described Ms Saint John in these words.
Reacting to her new role, Ms Saint John said: “I’m thrilled to join Netflix, especially at a time when storytelling is critical to our global, societal well-being. I feel honoured to contribute my experience to an already dynamic legacy, and to continue driving engagement in the future.”
She replaces Jackie Lee-Joe, who has been with her family in Australia since the COVID-19 pandemic broke and is leaving the company for personal reasons after a year in office.
Until her latest appointment, Ms Saint John was the CMO at Endeavor since 2018.
She is also the former Chief Brand Officer at Uber till 2018.
