Some 38 out of 39 staff of the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) who contracted coronavirus have recovered.
The remaining one is responding to treatment.
The FDA in a statement noted that despite recording COVID-19 cases, it will continue to effectively execute its mandate as a regulatory agency to register and enforce the importation, manufacture, distribution and sale of quality product especially PPE, face mask, sanitisers, medicines, food as well as other medical devices which are now needed more than ever in the vital fight against Covid-19.
The FDA organised mandatory testing for a total of 450 staff including all top management members from its head office, Tema office, Kotoka International Airport office, and the laboratory out of which 39 tested positive.
All the 39 staff were asked to go into self-quarantine.
The recovered staff will report to work soon, the authority stated.
